Deep degassing structures of the Kara sea

An executive geological and technical retreat on “The study of fluid dynamic processes to plan geological exploration of PJSC “Gazprom” was held on October 18-19, 2018 in Tyumen, it was attended by specialists of INGEOSERVICE LLC.

O.A. Smirnov, the chief geologist of INGEOSERVICE LLC, gave a report “The structures of the deep degassing in the Kara sea and their connection to hydrocarbon potential.” The shelf of the Barents-Kara region is a highly promising area to increase the resource base of the Russian Federation and be involved in production. Low exploration degree via drilling and its high cost suggests that seismic data will always be a priority in the study of the geological structure and estimation of petroleum potential of the sedimentary cover. The purpose of this report is to show new opportunities arising through processing 2D and 3D seismic data in the study of new oil and gas provinces of the Russian shelf.
