The award of honorary medals named after the corresponding member S.N. Ivanov “For outstanding results in the field of Earth Sciences and dignity” has already been held in 2017. This year, Borodkin Vladimir Nikolayevich, chief specialist of the regional geology group of LLC “INGEOSERVICE”, Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and Kurchikov A.R. (Tyumen branch of INGG SB RAS) have become laureates in the nomination “Exploration of deposits and discovery of new ones” for a series of works on geology and oil presence in the north of Western Siberia.
In accordance with the scientific interests and areas of knowledge, in which one of the best geologists of the twentieth century Svyatoslav Nestorovich Ivanov (1911-2003) left his contribution, the medal is annually awarded to Russian scientists for research in the areas of:
- Geology and geological mapping;
- Exploring deposits and discovering new ones;
- Geotectonics and geodynamics;
- Geophysics and the deep structure of the Earth’s crust;
- Conservation of nature and hydrogeology.
