Prospects of Barents Sea basin

On 8 to 12 July 2019, Gas Industry Commission for the Field Development and Subsurface use of «Gazprom» PJSC retreat was held in Tyumen. Geological exploration works and hydrocarbon reserves, hydromineral raw materials and other resources of the subsoil were under agenda. The Commission reviewed the current state of geological exploration work on the «Gazprom» PJSC license areas and its subsidiary companies where the specialists of «INGEOSERVICE» LLC took place.

O.A. Smirnov, the chief geologist of «INGEOSERVICE» LLC gave a report «Processing and interpretation of 3D seismic data on Leningradsky, Rusanovsky and Nevsky license areas, including special processing and interpretation of 3D seismic data in the upper part of the section for solving engineering-geological tasks» and «Processing and interpretation of 3D seismic data on Fersmanovsky license area, including special processing and interpretation of 3D seismic data in the upper part of the section for solving engineering-geological tasks».

The shelf of the Barents region is highly promising territory for building up the resource base of the Russian Federation and involving it in development. Poorly study via drilling and its high cost suggests that seismic data will remain a priority when studying the geological structure and estimation of oil and gas potential of the sedimentary cover.
